Discovery on the Google Play Store

Shocking. That's the first thing that comes to mind when you think about discovery for this app on the Play Store. Disappointing. That's another reaction to describe it.

I am sure folks at Evoqu have heard about SEO. Yes? Good. Then use it! You are on Google's domain, the Goliath of search and SEO is one the features your app must utilize on the Play Store. OK, I will try to illustrate my point like this: go to Google Play store and put in search box this: Shop Advisor. What do you see? At least I do not see the ShopAdvisor app in first 5 pages. How can an app with a name of ShopAdvisor can not be found by keywords of the app name in first 2-5 pages? Beats me. Or then, maybe not. 

The fact is that the app's description is not very good at helping the discovery of the app. The description fails to utilize the fact that any tags or keywords that support the discovery or search of this app. Why not have tags like shop, shopping, buy, price,  track, gifts, watch list, sale etc.? I am not talking about the marketing description but just putting a text line with all the tags listed. The more the relevant tags are recurring, the better your rankings would be on the store.

Unlike instant shopping applications, ShopAdvisor app for Android actually understands your need and plans the best deals with patience. With its amazing features and options, an application that actually helps you save your time and money in shopping is really a big benefit for all shoppers. ScanLife Barcode & QR Reader allows you to scan any product with your phone and get pricing, reviews, stores nearby or online plus a wealth of rewards to unlock and earn.

The ScanLife dashboard interface gives you a choice of destinations. You can browse through scans you have previously made in My Scans. Deals show discounted items nearby and online. Discover presents an interesting feed of items scanned by users worldwide in real-time. QR Codes can now be found in the More menu. This feature lets you create your very own contact information card into the QR format to share! In Settings you make different adjustments to the app, such as sound effects and the scanner theme. The app also has a Rewards feature with mPoints where you scan for points that can be redeemed for real gift cards (only available in the U.S. however.) Though you’ll near be far from this area as the app is now more pushy towards rewards.

    

When have been using and reviewing ScanLife scanner app for quite some time now. Traditionally, a barcode and QR code scanner app, we notice that it shifted away from being solely a scanner to more of a real-time shopping companion. Next time you go shopping use it to easily scan product barcodes and gather information and pricing nearby and online. One fact that remained constant is just how fast it recognizes a scan– others hesitate a bit trying to catch focus but not the case with ScanLife. You can price compare stores like Amazon, Macy’s, Best Buy, and Target. If you’re located in the US and scan food items you can get nutritional facts as well.

It’s encouraged to use the app often as deals will be better catered to your scan habits and you earn rewards points. *As you stack up reward points you can redeem them for real gift cards- this includes Walmart, Amazon, Starbucks (US only). On a side note, I did notice Google Play QR codes no longer opens the Play Store app but opens a web view within the ScanLife app, making it less convenient to scan and download Android apps.

Walmart isn’t usually my favorite place to shop at, but if there’s one thing I can’t beat it’s their low prices. However, the frugal side usually gets the best of me. This is what Walmart is known for – saving money. With their Savings Catcher program/app, now there’s even a chance to save even more… something I didn’t think would even be possible.

In a nutshell, the Walmart Savings Catcher allows customers who have already purchased an item be refunded the difference of a lower price found somewhere else. The best part is that you don’t have to go look for a price, as Walmart automatically does it for you! Some of you may be familiar with this practice from using credit cards that offer purchase protection. However, this only works if you find a cheaper product.

For example, let’s say you purchase a toy at Walmart for $10 dollars. When you scan your receipt to the Savings Catcher app or type in your receipt number, Walmart automatically does a scan in your local area for the same toy at a lower price. If they find it at let’s say $8 dollars, they’ll refund you the $2 dollar difference in the form of a Walmart egift card sent to your email inbox or credit on your Bluebird American Express Card.

For those of you who are frequent shoppers at Walmart, this is a great way to cash in on a few extra bucks that you otherwise might be missing out on. Even if you aren’t sure if you’re going to save money, you might as well use the app just in case. All it takes is a simple scan or typing in your receipt number on the Savings Catcher Website. Online purchases work as well.

Take note that you only have 7 days after purchase to use the Savings Catcher, or Walmart won’t give you credit. This app is available for both iOS and Android devices.

This is a great way to get some extra cash back for those who frequently shop at Walmart. Even if you’re unsure if you qualify for a savings, you might as well upload your receipt information and give it a try just in case. You never know when you’re going to save a few dollars by trying.
